MEA Website Survey: What issues do you want your MP to lobby about after the general election?| 05 November 2019

Russell Fleming, Content Manager, ME Association.

You will find the website survey on the homepage of the MEA website.
It appears about halfway down the page, just below the ME Biobank promotion.

With the UK General Election taking place on Thursday, 12th December, we thought it a good opportunity to consider the central issues that you think should be raised by MPs when parliament reconvenes in the New Year.

Although much of the electoral debate will be around BREXIT, the National Health Service (NHS) will also be high on the public and political agenda.

This might then be a good time to contact your local candidates to raise local NHS concerns and other issues that relate to your diagnosis of M.E.

We will review your early responses to this month's website survey and, as with previous elections, we will provide a template letter that summaries those issues that you feel to be most important.

You can then copy and paste the template into an email (or written letter) and send to your local candidates. Their responses may then help to inform your voting decision.

We are aiming to have this letter ready by the beginning of next week. And from our point of view we are using this month’s website survey to help us determine our lobbying strategy for 2020.

We can then continue to raise these issues and press for positive change with our parliamentary contacts in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords when parliament reconvenes in the New Year.

UK General Election – Don't forget to register to vote!

You can also register to vote via postal ballot which will mean you don't have to vote in person if you are unable to leave home for example.

Postal voting applications must be received no later than 26 November if you live in England, Scotland or Wales. And no later than 21 November if you live in Northern Ireland.

More details and an application form can be found here.

MP candidates must register by Friday, 15 November. You can then find out who is standing in your area by checking your mail for flyers or by visiting this independent website and entering your postcode.
