A dinner was held this month to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the ME/CFS clinic at Wareham Hospital in Dorset – the first of its kind in the UK. The clinic opened with financial support from the Dorset ME Support Group and the local Health Authority – with Dorset NHS Primary Care Trust taking over the funding in 2001. Well over 1,500 sufferers have used the clinic since the early days and, with the continued help of the Dorset Group, further clinics have now opened for children at Dorchester and Poole Hospitals, with a service set up to help those too ill to attend the clinic.
