The New Year has got off to a
promising start for people with ME/CFS and their carers in
England-Scotland border country - with the opening of a new ME/CFS
group and academic project in Carlisle. Carlisle ME/CFS Support Group will be launched next week by Linda Danielis, a senior lecturer in Cumbria Business School at Carlisle. It will be part of the network of local groups across the north of England supported by M E North East, who are based in Chester le Street, County Durham, and in collaboration with other groups, including The ME Association. The group is part of a university project being supported by health academics at Northumbria University, Manchester Metropolitan University and the Central Lancashire University, of which Cumbria Business School is part. Funding until summer of this year comes from an urban generation grant provided by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. It is hoped to secure enough volunteers and funding to enable the project to continue in the long term.
