| Call for Queen's Award nominations |
|
From Third Sector magazine, September 20 The Office of the Third Sector is urging voluntary groups to send nominations for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2008. The award was created in 2002 as part of the Queen’s golden jubilee celebrations and intends to reward the “unsung heroes of the voluntary and community world”. Those interested have until the end of the month to nominate volunteering groups that have made substantial contributions to society.
“Voluntary groups give so much to enrich the lives of others,” said Phil Hope, minister for the third sector. “The work they do holds our society together by giving everyone the chance to be included in their communities. We urge people to give them a boost now by nominating them for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2008.”
