Meet outside John Knox House (Scottish Storytelling Centre), 43 High Street, Edinburgh, at 11am
Edinburgh MESH tour of the ‘Hidden Gardens of the Royal Mile’ with Greenyonder Tours. This will be tailored for us – so not too much standing and the walking is gentle and downhill. You will hear about grand gardens of the past and be able to take a breather in a beautiful space. Details: Tour lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes. Cost: £3 to edmesh members and £5 to non-members. Normal cost of this tour is at least £7.
The walk finishes at the Scottish Parliament and we can then lunch in the Parliament Cafe. Lunch is optional and not included in above price.

Half day conference conference about ME/CFS in children and young people called by the Association of Young People with ME (AYME). The focus of the day is to provide quality, professional information and raise awareness of the condition amongst consultants, GPs, education and social care professionals, to reduce delays and issues with diagnosis, management and treatment in the region. The keynote speaker is Dr David Vickers, lead paediatrician, CFS/ME service for Children and Young People, Cambridge. To book, email events@ayme.org.uk. Open day to gauge the level of support for setting up an ME/CFS and FM Support for the Harrogate and Knaresborough area of North Yorkshire. The two ladies involved, Gemma Jewett and Barbara Morland, invite people to pop along and chat about what they would like to see in the group – what they want to get out of it, what activities they would like, etc, so that we can organise the group in such a way that it will benefit all the participants. Special reMEmber fundraiser: Rt Hon Nicholas Soames, Conservative MP for Mid-Sussex, will talk about his grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill. The meeting at Danny House has a particular poignance for it was here, during the First World War, that several meetings of the Imperial War Cabinet of which Sir Winston was a member, took place in the Great Hall – the terms of the armistice to be offered to Germany were drawn up here and authority was given to US President Woodrow Wilson to negotiate the Armistice. The ME Association will be holding its annual ‘ME Question Time” in Liskeard – with MESH Cornwall and Plymouth and District ME/CFS Group as our co-hosts. Panellists lined up so far include MEA medical adviser Dr Charles Shepherd, consultant paediatrician and ME specialist Dr Nigel Speight, ME/CFS specialist dietitian Sue Luscombe and Jane Colby, executive director of the Young ME Sufferers Trust. Free entry, all welcome – just turn up on the day. Disabled access and stairlift. Refreshments will be served in the interval. There is a pay-and-display parking at Westbourne Car Park opposite the hall.
