Our ‘Big Give’ Christmas Appeal will begin on 6 December 2012

November 29, 2012

On Thursday, 6th December, the ME Association will begin its annual Christmas Appeal and we ask you to look kindly on us this year.

If you’ve ever known your doctor to challenge the reality your M.E. or not want to help you with a diagnosis, then you’ll know what our ‘Telling GPs the Truth about M.E.’ appeal is about.

We’re going online to launch our BIG GIVE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE on 6th December to raise money so that we can post out our MEA clinical guidance booklet to as many GPs as possible.

And if you can get online as close to 10am on the 6th, 7th or 8th of December, you have the best chance of seeing your donation doubled in value through the unique ‘matched funding pot’ set up by the Big Give organisation.

This has already been topped up in advance by MEA pledgers and our charity champion, ‘Candis’ magazine. If all goes well, the plan is that a third of the matched funding will be released each of those first three days.

We’re aiming to post out thousands of copies of next year’s updated version of the booklet – ‘ME/CFS/PVFS: an Exploration of the Key Clinical Issues’. The better supported the Appeal, the more copies we can send out.

The booklet – for those for who don’t know it already – explains why so many people with M.E. stay so ill and for so long and what doctors can do within the bounds of existing knowledge to help them.

But don’t worry if you can’t get online at around 10am on those first three days because the appeal will stay open until 5pm on Wednesday, 19th December.

And please let us know where to send the booklet
Let us know if you would like your doctor to receive the booklet when we do the big mail out next May. Email your surgery name and address to the MEA Publicity Manager.
