ME Association beefs up its bursaries to medical students going to Newcastle conference | 11 September 2015

September 11, 2015

The ME Association has beefed up its package of assistance for medical students who have already applied to us for bursaries to attend the UK CFS/ME Research Collaborative scientific conference in Newcastle next month.

We had already announced that that we would create two annual bursaries – each worth up to £250 – to help medical students with the costs of attending the event at the Novotel Newcastle Airport on October 13 and 14.

Now, following the receipt of some excellent applications for the bursaries and a generous gift from one of our supporters, MEA Trustees agreed at their meeting this week to increase the number of awards to four. We have also agreed to increase the value of the award to cover all their registration, accomodation and travel costs up to a total of £350 each.

Recipients are being notified of the awards this week and this year's award scheme is now closed.

Earlier today, it was announced that two major sponsors – the Wellcome Trust and Arthritis Research UK – will both sponsor the conference to the tune of £10,000 each.
