The ME Association is proud to announce that it has two runners – Jonny Hanson and Gareth Davidson – who have confirmed that they will take part in this year’s Dublin Marathon on October 27.

Jonny has taken up one of the two guaranteed places held by the ME Association, while Gareth has entered independently.

This is the 35th year of the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon, which is run through the historic Georgian streets of Dublin, Ireland's largest and capital city. The Dublin Marathon is often billed internationally as the ‘Friendly Marathon’ as nearly half of entries come from oversees with many returning to sample the famous Irish hospitality.

Ten thousand entrants will run (or walk) this largely flat course which starts and finishes closes to the city centre.

The route will start on Fitzwilliam Square, taking in City Hall and Dublin Castle – two well-known Dublin landmarks – before entering the quays and moving towards the Phoenix Park, past Brickfields Park, through Bushy Park, around University College Dublin, beside Elm Park Golf Course before finishing in Merrion Square.

There are ample water and first aid stations throughout the route. The marathon is walker-friendly. There's a 7½-hour time limit and is well known for its good crowd support. There are also designated cheering zones dotted around the course.

Entry fees for the Dublin Marathon are 75€ – 95€ depending on how soon you book. But if you undertake to fundraise hard for The ME Association (ideally raising over £300), we can offer you a charity place for just £30 (€37.5). In return, you will receive a free ME Association running vest and full fundraising and moral support.

If you would like to apply for the remaining MEA place, please email our fundraiser Helen Hyland as soon as possible – letting her know why you want to support the ME Association and giving us an idea of your running background. Please be aware that registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Entries must be submitted to the ME Association no later than 30 September.
