January 8, 2014

One of the ME Association's medical advisers, paediatrician Dr Nigel Speight, is filmed talking to the chairman of the Dutch ME/CFS group ‘ME/CVS Vereniging' about some of the very difficult cases he has had to deal with in his career.

A series of videos featuring Dr Speight was released this month as part of the Dutch's group's ‘Science to Patients' video project which is funded by the government of The Netherlands as a way of getting across basic information to patients.

They are all on YouTube. Click on the images below to watch them.

Films featuring Dr Speight's MEA colleague Dr Charles Shepherd are also in the pipeline and are expected to be released in February.

The discussion is in English with Dutch sub-titles.

  1. The words ‘Thank You’ to both of these honorary doctors and all involved in The Netherlands for producing the above videos seems very inadequate.

As a PVFS/ME sufferer since 1987, these heart-warming productions, statements and the beliefs of Dr Shepherd and Dr Speight can surely give confidence and hope to all patients affected by this terrible illness, which both of these doctors have devoted their time and lives to on behalf of us all.

Equally, this should give focus to those learned medical professionals and members of the governments in The Netherlands and the United Kingdom who are in any doubt about ME/CFS.
