Does anyone know of an ME/CFS service or doctor in Dubai?

January 3, 2013

A long shot this – but does anyone know of a decent ME/CS service or doctor in Dubai?

We've received an email to our helpline this morning from someone now living in Dubai – after living in England, where he recovered sufficiently with the support of an ME/CFS service, to be able to move to there. But he is now experiencing a flare-up in his symptoms and is looking for a local service quite urgently.

If you can help, an email to our ME Connect service would be appreciated. Our you might like to leave a comment below.

  1. Sorry, I don’t know of any services – but neither do I know of any services which can help with flare-ups!

Can the person not just carry on applying what normally works? Rest, rest and more rest.
Personally, I’d recommned a good carnitine complex, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D, at least – but it’s not as if any “services” offer any nutritional supplement advice in the first place…

  2. If the ME/CFS service in the UK was helpful with CBT, perhaps they would be able to offer continued support via telephone/ skype/ internet?
Otherwise, agree with Peggy-Sue. Rest and pacing. The flare up might be post exertional malaise after the upheaval of moving, new climate etc.

I have also found that heat can exacerbate some symptoms (orthostatic intolerance etc).

Sunlight (& some types of nuts which contain arginine) can also reactivate latent herpes viruses, for which Lysine can be particularly helpful and anti inflammatories such as Ibuprofen.

I do hope the gentleman concerned feels much improved soon and can start to enjoy his new home.
